Harvard student Herman Foster Robinson's handwritten travel diary, recorded during a trip to Europe with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Beverley Robinson, and his siblings, older brother Beverley and younger sisters Pauline and Anna, July-Sept. 1897. Leaving Hoboken on June 23rd, they sail first to Paris, travel to Switzerland, and finally to England; Robinson closes the diary from Cambridge, Mass., after his return to Harvard. His descriptions are detailed and intelligent, and include conversations with people he meets, as well as personal observations. Includes a list of famous chairs he has sat upon, dated 25 Jan. 1898. A section of the diary is written in French.
